SAP TechEd 2023 Infuses Generative AI Capabilities in Product Portfolio

SAP TechEd 2023, held in Bengaluru on November 02-03, brought together technology and innovation experts.

Juergen Mueller, SAP's Chief Technology Officer, revealed innovations poised to reshape SAP's present and future by integrating Generative AI into the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

The event presented scenarios where Generative AI plays a crucial role within SAP BTP. From the SAP BTP Cockpit with SAP's assistant Joule to AI-assisted ABAP Cloud programming and GenAI for SAP Build Process Automation, the future of SAP technology promises innovation for developers, administrators, and integration experts.

SAP TechEd 2023 Highlights:

SAP Build Code: Pioneering Pro-Code Development

  • The introduction of SAP Build Code, a pro-code offering powered by AI, enhances developers' productivity, particularly in Java and JavaScript development.

  • SAP Build Code simplifies the developer experience by providing a unified starting point for SAP Build and SAP Build Code. Following the CAP model, it enables collaboration between professional and citizen developers.

  • It also incorporates SAP's Generative AI capabilities using Joule to generate code, create data models, and test data for applications.

SAP Integration Suite Edge Integration Cell: Empowering Integration Flexibility

  • SAP presented the Edge Integration Cell, granting customers with heterogeneous and distributed environments greater flexibility and control over integrations and APIs. This runtime is now generally available for SAP Integration Suite.

SAP Datasphere: Enhancing Data Fabric and Interoperability

  • SAP is committed to streamlining business data fabric and improving interoperability. The introduction of SAP Datasphere Semantic Onboarding in Q4 2023 will be a significant step in that direction. This new approach aims to empower various domains to self-serve and securely distribute data products.

SAP HANA Cloud Vector Capabilities: Unlocking Unstructured Data's Potential

  • SAP HANA Cloud is expanding its multi-model capabilities with vector capabilities, harnessing the power of Generative AI to manage unstructured data such as text, images, and audio as vector embeddings.

  • This innovation provides the long-term memory and context that Generative AI models need, offering a deeper understanding of evolving business complexities and enabling the creation of accurate and relevant responses. This capability will be available in Q1 2024.

SAP Analytics Cloud: Speed and Accessibility

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) has become faster than ever before, with lightweight viewer performance up to 60% faster compared to the classical SAC stack.

  • "Just Ask" integration with natural language interaction provides quicker access to insights, complementing SAP's Generative AI copilot, Joule. Just Ask will be available to most existing SAP Analytics Cloud enterprise customers starting in Q1 2024.

SAP Business AI: A Hub of Generative AI

  • The Generative AI hub in SAP AI Core, set for general availability by December 2023, offers developers access to a wide range of large language models, including Azure OpenAI and Falcon-40b, with more models to come.

  • Future capabilities include additional features such as prompt management with templates, libraries, and fine-tuned support for domain-specific contexts.

This year's SAP TechEd emphasized the pivotal role of Generative AI in steering business transformation. However, the showcased features and products at SAP TechEd 2023 reveal a dual role for AI - not only as a driver of technological evolution but also as a catalyst for human adaptation to enhance work practices and development methods.

Extentia had a great time attending, and our VP – Delivery, Devashish Nayak, eagerly took a front-row seat to witness the latest innovations. While a few of our other teammates participated through on-demand online sessions.
